Few boats speak to the history of American boat building as prominently as those with roots to the Maine shipyards of the Henry R. Hinckley Company. The Henry Hinckley designed Hinckley Sou’wester 50 yawl does so with aplomb. Her graceful shear, traditional overhangs and classic sail plan are reminiscent of an era when gentlemen might not have sailed to weather but sail they did. GRACE is a fine example of this genre and has led a pampered life. Stored indoors each winter and cruised locally in New England, GRACE also benefits from excellent upkeep and continues updates. Recent bow thruster, watermaker, electronics, sails, rigging, and paint, are a few examples of the work completed. It is the basics that keep bringing keen sailors back to Hinckley and GRACE more than gives a nod to those. She is strong, seakindly, and seaworthy, a proper vessel in every sense of the word. GRACE is also a movie star, playing a big role in the 2022 movie “Confess, Fletch” with Jon Hamm and Lorenz Izzo.
GRACE’s interior is characteristic of Hinckley’s unique blend of classic elegance and seagoing function. Her interior is constructed with satin varnished ash bulkheads and panels with varnished teak trim. The cabin sole is solid teak and holly. The headliner is painted white and trimmed with mahogany. Living spaces are open, with handholds well placed for movement about the cabin in a seaway. Headroom is maximized in the salon, master stateroom and bunk room, creating a bright and comfortable interior. Her three-stateroom layout will accommodate seven with the addition of an excellent sea berth in the main salon. Two reading lamps and an overhead dome light add to the natural light provided by a fixed port and overhead hatch. A Dorade vent also provides ventilation.

Above on the aft end of the cabin trunk is a rack with space for six Hinckley glasses and a binocular rack. Four lights over the galley counter provide excellent illumination. A red light is fitted for night watch.
