regal 2000 ES

Not every boating experience has to be serene, and not every boat must be demure. Sometimes it’s better to make a splash, turn heads and loudly announce your arrival. If you’re looking to make an impact, leave a lasting impression on guests and forge a strong identity out on the water, then there is no better choice than the Regal 2000 ES. First launched to the public in 2015 to a great deal of fanfare, this 20-foot dual-console bowrider immediately carved an outsized niche in the market and has remained wildly popular ever since. Though it may be the smallest boat in the current Regal fleet, the vessel combines a sporty style and an energetic feel for an entry-level package that will never be bettered.

The 2000 ES is a model built with the family in mind, big enough for a single brood to head out on the water together and enjoy plenty of fun, fine views and even better company. There is also enough space to head offshore with a set of friends and impress them with the exquisite finish that radiates off every square inch of this stunning vessel. Fixtures including cleats, grab-rails and fenders shimmer in authentic stainless steel, while cushioned seating is lined in diamond-stitched, hand-finished upholstery with a water-proof and marine-grade sheen to it. Standard upholstery tones include light tan Hitch, though buyers can also opt for an ESX style package for finishes including striking Titanium with sharp accents in Flame Red, Electric Green or Newport Blue. The ESX package also comes with a super-sporty livery treatment that gives your vessel the look of a racing craft, though standard hull side paint jobs in Graphite or Belle Isle Blue are also likely to catch the eye. As you move around this boat you will feel the reassuring, non-slip texture of woven Seagrass matting or a non-slip Seadek sole, while a sloping, wrap-around windscreen with aluminum brightwork has been tinted and tempered for solidity, transparency and an anti-glare effect.

The windscreen also features a walk-through panel that opens up to reveal a compact bow-lounge comprised of three padded seats with backrests for a trio of guests. Place your drinks in the cup-holders, pipe your favorite tunes through the Fusion Marine stereo speakers and enjoy the lapping of the waves up against the hull as you soak up the rays. Alternatively fix a filler cushion into place and turn this area into one full-beam daybed where you can curl up with a close companion and devour a bestseller as the call of the seagulls echoes overhead. There’s even more space for social gatherings in the cockpit, where up to five guests will enjoy lounging across wrap-around seating with backrests to transom. There’s hidden storage beneath some of the seats, including a 25-quart Igloo cooler ready to keep drinks ice-cold, crisp and close to hand. You will keep your drinks in the nearby cup-holders or make use of an optional cockpit table for light and refreshing lunches far from land.

A pair of forward-facing helm seats, meanwhile, ensure that captains can sit alongside guests as they man the controls. The helm seat features ergonomic molding that responds to the human form, a flip-up bolster and lumbar support for effortless comfort, while the helm itself boasts an intuitively placed throttle attached to the gunwale for ease of use. Also featured on the dashboard is a digital depth sounder for traversing the shallows, a hand-wrapped, power-assisted, tilting steering wheel and a trio of analogue gauges surrounded by stainless steel bezels.

Mark your mark on the water to stern, where a full-beam bathing platform provides unimpeded access, with no outboards blocking your path, to fresh and salt-waters alike. Back here there is an extending swim ladder for quick and safe reboarding, while a stern-facing, full-beam sunpad with a backrest provides the ideal backdrop for glamorous Instagram snaps. A fold down Power Tower and a ski-tow to aft present twin opportunities for your more active guests to enjoy water-skiing and wakeboarding at high-speed, while the tower can also be used to erect a Bimini or Sunbrella shade perfect for shelter as you dry off and cool down.

There’s nothing subtle about this vessel’s powerful stern-drive engine. A number of propulsion options are available for adrenalin-junkies, thrill-seekers, or just those who want to get from A to B as quickly as possible. Standard motors include 200HP or 250HP Mercury 4.5L Alpha drives, while if you need a touch of extra thrust then opt for the 280HP Volvo V6 G5 SX. The 250HP Mercury engine should deliver top speeds of approximately 42 knots, while the top of the range Volvo engine can reach a soaring 47 knot pace. The most fuel-efficient speed for both motors will be around the 27-knot mark, a pace at which you will enjoy a day-long range of almost 100 nautical miles, more than enough to spend your Saturdays exploring secret islets and ephemeral sandbars far from the beaten track. If you do happen to encounter other runabouts as you traverse the azure waters, then you can leave them in your wake thanks to a planing time of less than five seconds.

A nimble performer on coastal and inland waterways, this yacht features a proprietary Regal FasTrac hull for speeds up to 25% faster than similar boats and 30% better fuel efficiency. The composite hull, bonded with stringers for a singular feel on the water, features reverse chines, steps and prominent lifting strakes for just the right amount of lift, balance and stability as you roar out of the marina, and smooth sailing as you head back home once the sun starts to go down. Small enough to be towed and piloted over those hard-to-reach lakes and inland watercourses you’ve long had your eye on, this yacht is also compact enough to keep on a trailer or even in the garage, proving that you don’t have to shell out on a massive hull to make a big impression.
