regal 26 XO

Over two-thirds of our planet’s surface is covered by water. From mighty rivers that carve their path through mountain ranges and languid lakes that seem to go on forever to stunning jagged coastlines and the immensely powerful ocean, there is plenty to explore if you have the right boat, one that can grapple with the deep open seas and shallow estuaries with equal aplomb. The Regal 26 XO, an outboard-powered express cruiser with enough overnight accommodation for weekend trips, is the sort of boat that helps you to explore this world to its fullest. Not only does it open up an entirely new range of coastal destinations, from secret sandbars and secluded coves, but it has been constructed to keep you out on the water for days on end, helping you to cover this blue planet like never before.

Regal Boats has always been known for the style, panache and simple elegance of their watercraft, and this vessel shows just why. A streamlined form with a sharp entry, serpentine lines to stern, a raked back tempered windscreen and a steep transom combine to give this boat a look that is assertive, classical and undeniably beautiful. A range of custom liveries are available to give your 26 XO a personalized look, while deluxe finishes throughout exude that hint of opulence you demand from your yacht.

The cockpit is the heart of this boat, and has been designed to host more than half a dozen guests across a range of plush adaptable seating lined in sophisticated marine-grade upholstery. Soak up the rays in this al-fresco lounge by relaxing at a triple-width transom sofa that doubles as a stern-facing sunpad, curl up with a good book at a port-side daybed, or fix a table into place and enjoy on the water brunches at a starboard twin-seat with a cushioned backrest. Integrated fusion stereo speakers and cup-holders dotted around the deck keep the tunes flowing and your drinks close to hand as you traverse the sea. Head to stern, meanwhile, and enjoy direct access to the water at a pair of bathing platforms either side of the outboard motor, with a swim ladder and a transom shower on hand for when you reboard. There’s barely an inch of wasted space across this deck, with hidden storage compartments, an under-seat drinks cooler and a water sports lazarette on offer, while on the foredeck there is room for a double-width, forward-facing sunpad from where you can work on your summer tan and snap those Instagram pics.

A comfortable twin seat faces the starboard helm, where a hand-wrapped, power-assisted steering wheel is joined by trim-tab switches and a digital throttle for responsive cruising and bow thruster controls for inch-perfect docking. A dual Garmin 943 touch-screen system bundles together instrumentation and feedback in a high-tech package that looks great and is easy to use, while hand-held VHF radio keeps you in touch with the wider world.

The lower-deck is not just an overnight retreat but a live-in salon with expansive seating, wide strip glazing built into the hull and a thoroughly refined finish with pristine leather, coastal driftwood accents, pale oak surrounds and marbled surfaces. Climate control down here keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, maximizing your months spent at sea, while recessed lighting dictates the atmosphere and mood during blissful offshore evenings. There is a V-shaped lounge towards the bow that comes with a teak-lined table for formal dinner service or hearty breakfasts, while you will prepare your meals at the starboard galley unit. Mosaic or Strato Wind countertops and an oak cabinetry unit frame amenities like a single-zone electric hob, a stainless steel sink with a mixer-tap, a mounted combination microwave and a pull-out, under-counter refrigerator. At night the V-lounge transforms, with the help of filler cushions, into a sprawling double bed, and you will gaze out of a circular skylight at the stars while falling asleep. Another double bed sits aft, deftly hidden behind the metal and timber staircase that leads back up to deck. Privacy curtains are on hand to keep things down here secluded in the evening, while a fully enclosed head to port comes with a sink, a flush toilet and an open shower fixture perfect for freshening up in the morning.

Cover distances quicker and more efficiently with this boat’s patented FasTrac hull, a stepped feature unique to the Regal fleet which will help you achieve speeds up to a 25% faster than rival yachts and enjoy up to a third more fuel-efficiency than equivalent models. A single 300HP Yamaha F300 FCA 4.2L outboard attached to the stern exudes plenty of monolithic power as it stands tall in the water, and this symbolic energy is more than matched by its performance at sea. Top speeds edging over the 38 knot mark will be achieved with ease, while a planing time of just 4.2 seconds, and a zero to 30mph time of just over 11 seconds will impress those for whom time is at a premium. It is at a cruising speed of around 20 knots, however, that you will find this vessel’s sweet spot. Gliding along at this speed you will be able to steer this magnificent boat for over 110 nautical miles before requiring a refuel, and that’s more than enough to keep you out on the water all weekend. Thanks to the outboards and a relatively modest draft of just 34 inches with the engines down you can sidle right up to the beach or hover over polychromatic coral reefs without having to worry about damage.
