regal 36 XO

Life is full of compromises. When it comes to yachts, Regal makes sure you don’t have to make any. Want a sporty yacht with speeds just above 50MPH? Done. A family-friendly weekender? No problem. A boat for all seasons? Look no further. The 36 XO strikes that elusive balance between thrilling performance and live-aboard comfort. A true crossover yacht, this mid-sized outboard cruiser allows owners to partake in every aspect of the boating lifestyle, from day yachting to overnight journeys.

With the optional sliding glass enclosure, you can lengthen your time out on the water even further. Imagine: it’s early spring, the mornings are still cold. You climb aboard the 36 XO, thermos in hand. You could pour a cup of hot coffee and savor the warmth of the mug in your hands. Or you could take off your hat, turn on the heating, and savor coffee itself instead. The enclosure also benefits those in sunny climates who may wish to seal off the heat and crank up the A/C. For those who love living in true indoor-outdoor style, both versions of this boat facilitate a seamless connection with the elements.

Whether you opt for an enclosed or open configuration, the aft cockpit on this boat is truly magnificent. Generously sized with ample seating options with ample storage underneath, this space feels like it belongs to a larger boat. The open cockpit layout features a long transom seat opposite an adjustable aft- or forward-facing social seat to port, while the enclosed layout enjoys a near-identical layout with minor changes owing to the sliding doors. The cockpit social seat extends into the salon, all the way forward, ending in a further adjustable seat whose bolster can be used to create an aft-facing chaise longue or a captain’s companion seat.

A wet bar can be found to starboard on the cockpit with all the amenities you need to magic up some cocktails, while the salon galley features a refrigerator, freezer, sink and optional smokeless grill. Open up the retractable hard top, sit around the teak dining table, and enjoy an al fresco dinner under the stars.

Those lucky enough to pilot this boat will enjoy a smooth, high-performance ride thanks to Regal’s award-winning FasTrac hull. Faster than the ubiquitous V-hull, the 36 XO has a stepped hull, which retains stability but significantly reduces drag, allowing owner-operators to experience a steady, fast, and fuel-efficient journey. See? No compromises. And while this boat lends itself to lazy weekends out on the water, thrill seekers won’t be disappointed, thanks to standard twin Yamaha 425 XTOs with a combined 850HP and top speeds of just over 50MPH. At a more comfortable cruising speed of about 15MPH will net you more fuel efficiency at 0.76 miles per gallon.

This boat’s outstanding helmstation will further entice new and seasoned mariners, with a glass cockpit dash system and a Garmin Navigation System with a standard 22-inch screen, or optional dual screens, from which you have total control of the boat at your fingertips. A Yamaha joystick (or optional Helm Master EX system and joystick) and binnacle control allow you to maneuver your boat with grace and ease, while the helm seat itself is sure to impress with its sheer comfort. This flip-up bolster seat features handstitched vinyl upholstery and a fold-out step to allow users to adapt the helm to their height and piloting style.

The large walk-thru windshield offers incredible visibility and effortless access to the bow, where users will find another relaxation zone. A platform sunpad with an adjustable backrest, cupholders, and grab rails allows you to lounge in luxury with your companion, sipping your favorite drink as you watch the sun go down.

A central companionway leads to the lower deck, where Regal’s space-maximizing ingenuity is on full display. The large lower cabin, which comfortably sleeps four people, is divided into two semi-open zones. A California queen size island bed sits forward, with walkaround room, under-bed storage, and a hanging locker. Tucked behind the stairs is an aft living area with two settees on either side that can be converted into two twin beds or a king. This is an excellent spot to socialize when the weather is drizzly or grey, and its cleverly designed layout ensures it always feels spacious and light. And although this cabin performs a dual function as a place to sleep and socialize, the main berth feels private enough, even with overnight guests. The day head is well appointed, with a vessel sink, texture walls, and a toilet/shower combo that is more elegant than you would guess: when not in use, the toilet is discreetly hidden from view, thanks to a large teak fold-down bench that doubles as the perfect perch for a relaxed morning shower.
