regal 38 FXO

Some yachts make the headlines. The first ever fiberglass-hulled cruiser; a powerboat that breaks speed records; or a stunning mega-yacht bigger and bolder than anything seen before. The same is true for the Regal 38 FXO, an utterly unique, game-changing watercraft that belongs to a very select, very exclusive club. One of only a couple of outboard powered flybridge models, along with sister vessel the 42 FXO, currently available on the market today, this is not only a genuine innovation in its category, but a category all of its own. Best-in-class amenities, a striking sporty look, an inventive approach to space-making, a novel engine set-up and elevated, 360-degree views from the bridge combine to produce a vessel that looks and feels like the future of yachting. You’ve never seen or owned a boat quite like this before, and nor has anyone else you know. Someone has to the first. It may as well be you.

Sandy Hook Yachts is your Regal Boats dealer in New Jersey and the Tri-State area.

It wasn’t just the innovative motors that made waves when this yacht was first launched to the public at the 2022 Miami Boat Show. A futuristic, slick and stream-lined form with plenty of undulating curves, sharp side glazing and a bulwark that slopes down to transom also caught the eye of industry insiders, connoisseurs and discerning potential clients. A legitimate trend-setter, this yacht is as stylish as it is technologically advanced. The languid flybridge takes its cues from the laid-back beach terraces of Ibiza, with an open-air aspect ideal for soaking up the rays. There is an L-shaped sofa with backrests lined in sand-toned, marine-grade upholstery up here, surrounding a wide teak-topped table ideal for al fresco breakfasts, lengthy lunches and late-night dinners. Ahead of this are a pair of forward-facing Ultra-Lounge twin seats with adjustable backrests, along with a flybridge refrigerator ready to keep your refreshments ice-cool and within easy reach.

You will also encounter one of two helm stations up here, with the second set of controls located on the main deck for all-weather piloting. Those who prefer the rush of the marine air in their face, and relish taking advantage of the elevated views, will discover bow thruster controls and a Helm Master EX joystick for inch-perfect directionality as well as a pair of Garmin 8616 touch-screens with next-generation instrumentation controlled by the flick of a finger. A hand-wrapped steering wheel, trim-tab switches, hand-held VHF radio and Yamaha binnacle controls to your right complete the package up here, while a chic twin-seat with an actuating backrest keeps you comfortable as you grapple with the ocean.

Down on the main-deck there is more opportunity to develop your perfect tan out on the foredeck, where a modular set of sunpads can be arranged in a variety of styles. Pop-up back-rests allow you to leaf through a novel or turn the area by the bow into a plush, forward-facing sofa, while a flip-up Cabana sunshade keeps you sheltered from the midday rays. To aft, meanwhile, there is a wrap-around bathing deck with two swimming platforms either side of the outboards, where the kids will barrel-dive into clear tropical waters and reboard with ease thanks to a swim ladder. Just up from this the whole family will enjoy relaxing in a sheltered aft-cockpit with a transom sofa and a wet-bar lined in marble-effect Corian with steel cupholders, a sink, chilled storage and an optional outdoor barbecue.

This wet bar connects to the aft-galley in the salon thanks to slide-away doors and window panes, establishing an unbreakable connection between indoors and out. Once in the salon you will encounter a toasted oak sole with coastal, driftwood surrounds, plenty of white Snowcap Ultraleather and 360-degree views out of side glazing with minimal frames. The kitchen comes with all the amenities needed to keep you and your family well-fed for the entire week, while sofas come with plush, cushioned backrests.

Head below-decks to discover a sedate, climate-controlled retreat for up to four overnight guests with extra living space carved out of the hull due to the lack of inboard motors. The prime beneficiary of the increased dimensions is surely the master stateroom to aft, a full-beam affair with room for a plush side sofa, a timber-lined closet and a king-sized bed with hidden storage. Hull-side strip glazing offers relaxing views out across the rippling surface of the water, while mood-lighting, leather headboards and soft carpeting underfoot complete the lavish vibe in here. To the bow there is another cabin, this time with a skylight, a large closet and two twins that can be joined together to make a king-sized bed. The staterooms share main head facilities, with the bathroom featuring marble-effect surfaces, pale oak surrounds, a double-width ceramic vessel sink, a panoramic vanity mirror, and an enclosed wet-room shower with a teak-lattice sole and a timber bench seat.

The perfect sandbar-hopper, you can ride this vessel right up to the honey-toned beaches of your choice, hugely expanding the sorts of destinations that you can cruise in. Instead of avoiding the shallows you will be able to tour the turquoise waters of the Bora-Bora atoll, skirt right past Blue Lagoon Island and traverse the Everglades without having to worry about engine damage. Yet this vessel’s outboard-optimized hull, crafted from reinforced fiberglass with stringer grids and a draft of just 24-inches, is also a superb operator out on the open seas, where it will grip the waves, swerve like a sports car and provide the sort of efficiency that keeps you out on the water for days on end. A trio of 300HP Yamaha F300 outboards produce adrenalin-pumping top speeds of around 42 knots, while at a cruising pace of 26 knots you can expect a range of around 259 nautical miles, the ideal distance for open-ended nautical adventures. The yacht also comes fitted with a Seakeeper 3 stabilizer to eliminate roll while at rest, making for a perfectly placid atmosphere on board.
