regal LS9 SURF

Think of the urgent charge of the bulls at Pamplona…the tumult of whitewater rafting down the Colorado River…the focused grappling of rock climbing at Yosemite. It seems that adventure is in our blood. So if you want to inject a dash of pure adrenalin into your yachting lifestyle, and enjoy high-octane adventures on-demand, then the Regal LS9 Surf is the boat you have been waiting for. Inspired by the success of Regal’s existing surf models, but on a much bigger scale, and with a new 28-foot hull, the LS9 Surf delivers more space, bigger waves, and a slew of fresh, innovative features that establish a new industry standard for fearless fun. There is no need to journey around the globe in pursuit of the perfect wave, waiting for those just-right conditions before you float out to catch the surf. Bring those waves to you with Regal Boats, and, at the touch of a button, turn even the smoothest watercourse into a frenzy of rippling barrels that are a sheer joy to ride.

Launched at the turn of the year in 2023, this yacht represents the perfect synthesis of sheer fun and utter comfort without sacrificing power or seaworthiness. A Volvo Penta forward-drive motor with props at the front of the hull help to shape the wake, keep engines safely away from your active guests to the stern, redirect exhaust and help to enhance acceleration and agility for a dramatic handling experience. This yacht boasts a hefty 2,500 pounds worth of ballast for a significant presence on the water that perfectly sculpts prominent shapes across the surface of the water, meaning bigger and better waves. A set of wave-shaping tabs, meanwhile, carve the water to your exacting specification, exerting the sort of water-manipulation pressure that would be the equivalent to well over 1,100 pounds of extra ballast. The Surf tabs also deliver complete control over directionality, shifting waves this way and that for a truly challenging experience as you jump and lift over constantly changing serpentine swells. The extraordinary wave system on this vessel is linked to a set controls at the helm, including two 12-inch Garmin Glass Cockpit Water Sports touchscreens that give you command over wave-size, shape and angle, and allows pilots to save pre-sets to match each individual surfer.

A tow-bar to stern, and the ability to fix your line to the tower, not only allows for wake-boarders to hitch a ride but is perfect for water-skiers, too. A bathing platform to stern, meanwhile, features hydraulic actuation to safely lower and raise swimmers in and out of the water, for those who prefer a more old-fashioned way to enjoy the warm, azure seas. An entirely new feature on this model, and one that will be enjoyed by waxheads and partiers alike, is a set of WakeSubs linked to the yacht’s JL Audio system. Precision-engineered to emit low-frequency tunes, this innovative Subwoofer speaker system allows you to provide the perfect soundtrack for those riding the waves. Pair this unique feature with a set of RGBW underwater lights to stern for a disco feel to summer evenings spent out on the water.

Storage will never be a problem on this vessel, which makes use of its expanded dimensions to provide secure, hidden and easily accessible lockers for all your watersports equipment. The power-hardtop can keep a number of boards up top, while the tower struts feature plenty of board-racks for a grab-and-go experience. There are compartments under the vast majority of seats on this deck, while extra in-floor storage, including a dedicated in-sole chill-box, is on hand for those larger or more perishable items. In fact this boat features 17% more additional storage when compared to similar models on the market, with compartments benefiting from gas-assisted rams for swift, hands-free access.

Regal have also gone the extra mile to deliver ease of movement across the entire deck, with fixtures including grab-rails and cleats boasting an authentic stainless steel finish for a sturdy and reassuring feel. A central corridor down the heart of the vessel allows for quick passage from bow to stern, helping guests go from high-energy pursuits to serene relaxation in mere moments. The forward bow-lounge, for example, is accessed via a walk-through panel built into the curved and tempered windscreen, and up here you can expect chic, padded upholstery with a deluxe diamond-stitch, and room for up to four guests. Lay up against the padded backrests to turn these seats into chaise lounges, or install a teak-lined cocktail table out here for afternoon drinks or offshore brunch. Head back into the cockpit, lined in your choice of non-slip decking, for further sociable seating with radically expanded room, including bench-side sofas and two-aft seats that share a back-rest with the twin Ultra-Lounge daybeds that face to stern. Around the deck you will enjoy cup-holders scattered throughout, soft cushioning, stereo speakers, pop-up armrests, and thoughtful ergonomics that promote both comfort and sociability. Above the center of the deck, meanwhile, there is a svelte hard-top roof perfect for protection from solar glare, which can drop down at the touch of a button for added shelter from the rain and to lower the overall height of the vessel when passing underneath bridges. As an added convenience on this vessel there is even a hidden head across from the helm, with a half-moon light, an electric flush toilet, a steel sink, a medicine cabinet and pale timber surrounds.

The piloting experience on the Regal LS9 Surf is just as impressive, with the helm boasting features like adaptable piloting chairs, power-assisted steering, digital throttles, Garmin and Volvo display screens and bow thrusters for inch-perfect docking. The helm is linked to the 380HP Volvo Penta V8 forward-drive motor for top speeds of up to 41 knots, though upgrades are available in the form of a Volvo engine with up to 430HP of power for even faster full-throttle speeds. Expect a cruising speed of around 24 knots, a pace that will translate into a huge range of around 274 nautical miles, enough to enjoy coastal exploration to your heart’s content. The vessel’s hull, meanwhile, features a proprietary FasTrac design for improved speeds and efficiency, not to mention an unrivalled sense of durability and solidity as you make your way out to surfing nirvana.
